During our course we will be using Twitter, a micro blogging system that has the ability to disperse information in real time within the Twitter verse and beyond. Allowing 140 characters per message, users often include links to outside websites, blogs and Youtubes which provide further information about their Tweet for their audience. Please sign up at Twitter.com for your free account as soon as possible.
We ask that your tweets be relevant to the course material and/or topics the Muslim and minority communities are facing regarding policy, surveillance, violence, media etc.
As you attend the lectures and do the course readings, a simple Google search of the news on Islam, Muslims, Islamophobia etc will reveal several options to tweet. Also our fellow tweeters on our feed are a great source of information as many are activists, journalists, scholars on the subject that share critical information via Twitter. Read through the feed.
Remember to address your tweets to @irdproject and any other individuals or groups you wish to communicate with.

FAQs
How do I know if I am tweeting correctly? I cannot see my tweet on the course Twitter feed: Answer: To view your tweet history: 1) Log in to your account 2) Under your name on the left it says tweets (see pic) 3) Click the word 'tweets' 4) A list of your tweets will appear on the right 5) This is what you are responsible for; that is to have one tweet for each week of class. (Approx. 14-16 tweets (one for each week of class) addressed @irdproject. 6) We do not count double tweets in a week to make up for a missed tweet. 7) You do not need to "find" your tweet on our class feed or the hashtag page or worry about if we are following you. Check your tweet history instead. |
Twitter Assignment Submissions
We require students to post one tweet per week of the semester. At the end of the semester to receive credit you will click on your tweet history and submit one tweet per each week of class.

You must hit the word 'expand' on your tweet so that there is a time and date stamp for each tweet. You will submit them online in the assignments section at the end of the semester. You can submit screen shots or copy and paste in the form below.
